New Years Nails- Make Up Store Greta & W7 Black

Hi there,

Today I'm bringing you my New Years Nails. I started off Nail Tek foundation II, (I didn't apply a base colour) then a black tip with W7's Black. I cheated and used tape for this. LOL. After I took the tape off, I went over it again as the free edge was still a bit jagged. Still didn't do a good job though, by looking at the photos.

W7's Black is quite opaque, so I used it for the stamping on my accent nail. For the base I applied a coat of Aqua Fix, then 2 coats of Make Up Store's Greta, then using W7's Black I stamped the leopard and tiger stripe design on Konad Plate M78. This was all topped off with Seche Vite Top Coat. I was a bit surprised that Seche Vite did not dull out the holo effect. It's actually more holo in rea life.

W7 Black for the tips: 2 coats
Accent Nail: Make Up Store Greta
Stamping Colour: W7
Stamping Plate: M78
Seche Vite Top Coat
What do you guys think? Not so New Years Nails? What are you guys wearing on your nails today? It'll be nice to see what everyone's mani looks like for New Years.

Hope you guys all have a lovely NYE, Happy New Year!

See you agin soon.

Nails Inc Motcomb Street, OPI Crown Me Already & Essie Set In Stones

Hi there,

Today I'm bringing you a few polishes, thought I'd do a swatch of some of my polishes in my stash which I haven't had a chance to swatch yet. I'm also going to do a comparison.

First of, Nails Inc's Motcomb Street. This is a gorgeous navy polish, perfect for the winter. This almost applied perfectly, it was nearly opaque in 1 coat, but decided to apply 2 as I had a bald spot here and there. Overall, I'm loving the formula and colour.

Next up is OPI's Crown Me Already (Ms Universe Collection 2011) & Essie's Set In Stones (Luxeffects Collection 2011). They look quiet similar in the bottle, so thought I'd compare them.

I applied 1 coat of CMA on my index finger & 1 coat of SIS on my ring finger. As I explained, they're quiet similar in the bottle. However, that's where the similarities end.

Formula: CMA was more runny, and SIS was quite thick. (Good thick)

Glitter Particles: CMA has tiny, tiny micro glitters, SIS has micro glitters. Both have hex glitter particles, but SIS has a load more.

Ok, so the next thing may seem weird, but this is a major thing for me. I dunno if this bothers you, but when I run my fingers along my nails, I like it to feel smooth, no scratches, no chips in the polish, no lump and bumps.

Feel: As CMA has tiny micro glitters, and not a lot of hex glitter, this was super smooth after Seche Vite Top Coat, but as SIS has loads of hex glitters, it was a bit bumpy, even after a layer of Seche Vite.

Nails Inc Motcomb Street: 2 coats
Index finger: OPI Crown Me Already:1 coat
Ring Finger: Essie Crown Me Already: 1 coat
Seche Vite Top Coat

CMA looks as though it has blue micro glitters, however it doesn't, I was impatient and MS hadn't dried properly, so it transferred to the glitters. My bad.

Overall, I actually prefer Essie's Set In Stones, even after the bad sensation it gives. LOL. Maybe I can apply 2 coats of Seche Vite. :o) I just like how with 1 coat it covers my whole nail. With CMA, it seems like I did not apply it properly, and was patchy, maybe because it does not have enough hex glitters?

Hope you guys enjoy and see you again soon.

Make Up Store Haul & Aqua Fix review

Hi there,

I had to refrain myself from buying more polishes on Christmas Eve, but HAD to get Make Up Store's Greta. I heard Greta this was comparable to China Glaze's OMG. I've been looking for OMG & Gosh holographic for AGES….. but I'm not prepared to spend £40+ each for them from eBay. When I went to Westfields- White City, my intentions was just to pick up Greta, but they had a promotion, which apparently was finishing on the day, it was 20% off all purchases. Of course, I couldn't help myself, as I had already refrained myself in Boots & Inglot. So I picked up Siw & the Aqua Fix as well, as I heard without it, the holo polishes does not look/work so good. For comparison, I applied a base coat and Make Up Store's Aqua Fix on the index finger, and just a base coat on the middle finger. I did not apply a top coat.

Make Up Store Greta- 2 coats

It doesn't show but I had bald spots on my middle finger. It was also quiet hard to apply on my middle finger. It kept dragging. I took a out of focus photo just so the bald spots on my middle finger were visible.

Can you see that? So it just goes to prove aqua fix is necessary. I love the formula, and found I achieved even coverage with 2 coats. Love it.

I just did this post to review the Aqua Fix, hence my naked ring finger, messy application & no clean up. So I'll probably do a swatch post or NOTD with Greta, as it's gorgeous.

Hope you guys enjoy and see you again soon.

Nubar Brilliant

Hi there,

This is Nubar's Brilliant. This applied super sheer, but I did not mind, as I had to remove this the next day anyways. Its a pink scattered holo. To my surprise, (as I love pink polishes) out of all the holo polishes I have tried in my stash so far, it's my least favourite. I don't know why, but this just doesn't shout out to me. Maybe it's just not as holo as I wanted it to be. Brilliant has a WEAK scattered effect. I just got a flash here and there, under artificial lighting. Saying that, adding a top coat may have contributed to dulling out the holo effect.

Hope you guys enjoy and see you again soon.

Present to Myself

Hi there,

2 posts in a day? This is just an update, I'm going to do a humungous haul post soon. This post will include the polishes/nail art bits I picked up from holiday as well. As I did not treat myself throughout the year to anything extravagant, I decided to treat myself and brought a load of polishes for myself. This haul started from September, but I'm just waiting for some holo polishes to arrive from beautycosmetic.biz. Hopefully, I have will power and I will not be purchasing anymore polishes for a few months….. unless I see something that I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY need. I've been told, I have too many polishes, (if that's possible) LOL. But I kinda' agree as I my polishes are filled in 3 shoe boxes at the moment, plus my tower thing I've got going on. To be fair, two of the three drawers are full of nail art & other supplies. Just came back from shopping in Westfields, and picked up a couple of polishes (Make Up Store had a 20% discount) which I'll be posting separately, as I'm going to do a New Years Eve manicure.

I'm hoping the polishes will arrive soon, so I can post the pics, as I've been promising my holiday haul since I got back.

My not so Christmassy Christmas Manicure

Hi there,

Today I'm bringing you my not so Christmassy Christmas mani. I started off with Nails Inc's Tate, I love formula. I applied 2 coats of this, and I love this colour. However, it's a blood red, which is ok, but I thought it was going to be lighter. I wanted it to look like Santa's coat red. Am I making any sense?

Anyways, I then painted my ring finger with Sinful Colors San Francisco, (I had to remind myself to leave the 'U' out so many times, but still had to go back and amend it. LOL.) I  think is the perfect green, with tiny sparkles. This applied quite sheer, so I had to apply 3 coats. I then stamped the mistletoe image from bundle monster plate BM219, with Barry M's Gold Foil. You can't really see the image unless you're eyeballs are right up against my nails, which defeats the object. This was all topped off with Seche Vite Top Coat. I'm so bummed this didn't turn out the way I wanted it to, first the shade of red, then the image itself.

Nails Inc Tate: 2 coats
Sinful Colors San Francisco: 3 Coats
Stamping Colour: Barry M Gold Foil
Seche Vite Top Coat

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas, filled with joy, laughter and loads of food and drink. LOL ;o)

I hope you all enjoy and hopefully see you again soon.

BK Diamond Duet no 20

Hi there,

Today I'm bringing you BK Diamond Duet Nail polish in no 20. I just love this polish. (I got 10 bottles of this! I gave some to my sisters and cousin. LOL) Looking at the pictures, it looks as its a possible dupe for OPI's My Private Jet. I've haven't got the original version of MPJ, so can't do the comparison. I picked up the brown 1! :o(

This too applied like a dream, and the brush size was perfect. I applied two coats, as I wanted it to be super opaque, however like no.10 I could have gotten away with 1 coat. I applied Seche Vite's top coat and still the holo effect was there, I was super impressed.

I had this on for a few days and got loads of compliments. I myself couldn't get over the gorgeous holographic colours and kept staring at my nails.

This is my favourite polish ever, no complaints with this polish. Loved everything about this. So glad I've got this polish in my collection.

Check out the holo yumminess!
Thought I'd add another pic, just to show you guys the pretty colours.

BK Diamond Duet no 10

Hi there,

Today I'm bringing you one of the few BK Diamond Duet polishes. Today's is BK no. 10. I first heard about this brand around a month ago, whilst researching Holographic nail polishes. I absolutely love this polish! BK no. 10 is a silvery grey polish, with a tinge of blue. I applied 1 coat and look how gorgeous it is. I couldn't believe it. I did not apply a top coat, so I could compare the results. (Review for BK no 20 coming soon.) I am in love with these polishes. The formula is amazing, the holo effect is gorgeous and they have a large colour range to choose from.

BK Diamond Duet no 10: 1 coat

The only complaint I do have about these polishes are........ the size. At 6ml, that won't last me long, so what did I go and do? I got few of each colour, so hopefully I wouldn't run out.

What do you guys think? Isn't it just gorgeous?

I hope you all enjoy and hopefully see you again soon.

OPI Mermaid's Tears

Hi there,

Today I'm bringing you OPI's Mermaids Tears, from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. I was contemplating on buying this since the collection came out earlier this year. A fellow blogger had this on her blog sale, so decided to nab it since it was going for a reasonable price. I don't really like pastel colours on my nails, as I find them really hard to work with. This was no exception. I had a hard time applying this polish, as it is very sheer, and I had bald spots even after 2 coats, so I had to apply 3 coats to get the opacity.

This color is hard to describe, it's in between a green and turquoise, depending on the lighting. Some have described it as the Tiffany Blue, however, I don't think it is. I dunno, what do you think?

OPI Mermaid's Tears: 3 coats

I got bored with this mani after a couple of hours, so decided to spruce it up with some stamping. I just started stamping nails, so please excuse the poor stamping. I just stamped random flowers.

Base Colour: OPI Mermaids Tears
Stamping Polish: Wet 'n' Wild's Black Creme
Konad Plate: M60

Seche Vite Top coat
I hope you all enjoy and hopefully see you again soon.

OPI Cajun Shrimp

Hi there,

I'm back! I had a really good time in Hong Kong, and will be doing a haul post soon. Back to today's post. OPI's Cajun Shrimp. This polish always comes out in the Summer, however, I neglected this polish this year, so decided to dig it out for my holiday. It was still quite hot in Hong Kong, so kinda' got away with it. LOL. This is a true coral, and one of my favourite polishes.

OPI's Cajun Shrimp: 2 coats
Seche Vite Top Coat

However, I'm finding I'm not getting along with OPI recently. I seem to get only a day or two's wear out of OPI, after that, it seems to chip. I don't know why this is, but it's really cheesing me off, as we all know OPI is not cheap, at £10.50 a pop, that's not acceptable. I don't mind, now that I'm back at work, as I can only wear polish on the weekends, but whist on holiday, which I did not use a PC, or do any cleaning, I found they still chipped after day 2. :o(

Anyways enough complaining for now.

This is 2 coats of Cajun Shrimp, with Seche Vite Top Coat.

I hope you all enjoy and hopefully see you again soon.
